July 27, 1932 - August 7, 2016 John B. Bertero, Jr., 84, passed away on August 7, 2016 in Pasadena, California with his loving family by his side. John was born on July 27, 1932 in Los Angeles, California, son of John B. Bertero and Mary Nagle Bertero, and one of five siblings in a large Irish-Italian family. John graduated from Loyola High School, Loyola University and Loyola Law School, and spent several years in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. In 1953, John married his first wife, Virginia Williams Bertero, with whom he had four children. Together, John and Ginger raised their family in San Marino, California, with cousins, grandparents and siblings all living within blocks of each other. Following Ginger's death in 1988, John found his second love and married Jacqueline Collinge Ames in 1992. Jacque and John shared a love for friends, family, dogs and golf. In fact, John had three holes-in-one at Annandale Golf Club where he was a member and friend for over 35 years. John had a successful law career at O'Melveny & Myers, where he was a Partner practicing corporate law, joining the firm upon graduation from law school. John is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, his four children, Kathleen Bertero, Karen Bertero and her husband, Theodore A. Chester, Jr., John B. Bertero, III and his wife, Kim, and Patricia Bertero and her husband, Stanley S. Barchan, III, his two step-sons, Gregg Ames and his wife, Aimee, and Geoff Ames, his seven grandchildren and his five step-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations that John supported: Loyola High School, City of Hope, Huntington Hospital.
