John D. Dennis Obituary
January 28, 1937 - April 17, 2016 Mr. Dennis was born in Geelong, Victoria, Australia to a working class family; the eldest of four children. He left home for the United States as a teenager in 1955 becoming a citizen in 1977. He died peacefully at this home in Newbury Park, California after a valiant two year battle with brain cancer. A graduate of Columbia University, New York, N.Y., he attended university in the evenings, while working full time at the Australian Consulate, as Director of Economic Development. He received a B.S. Economics and became fluent in Russian. After Columbia, he joined International Flavors and Fragrances, Inc. in New York where he served over twenty years in various locations in the U.S. and abroad; eventually becoming Senior Vice-President of Sales for the company. Subsequent to IFF, he was in executive management at several large international companies in the fragrance industry where he was highly respected. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time in Lake Tahoe with his family. The Arbor Day Foundation planted 10 trees in his memory, in the Tahoe National Forest. He is survived by his loving son, John, daughters Suzanne, Andrea, wife Carol, grandchildren Hayden, Evan, Morgan, Natalie and Ryan. He is also survived by his brothers Larry, Kevin and sister Maureen; all in Australia. Mass to be held at St John Eudes, Chatsworth, CA. His cremated ashes were scattered in the Pacific Ocean, per his wishes.
