Fr.  John Daly Obituary
September 6, 1925 - January 8, 2017 Reverend John Joseph Daly leapt into eternal life on the feast of the Epiphany, Sunday, January 8, 2017. Fr. John was born in Ardee, Co. Louth, Ireland on September 6, 1925. He was the second son of Peter Daly and Rose Reilly and was raised on the hills and country roads around his beloved Ballapusta. At age 23 he went off on his first overseas adventure which took him to New South Wales, Australia. There he worked on a sheep farm. During this time, Fr. John heard the call of the Lord to serve him as a priest. Following his seminary training at All Hallows College Seminary in Dublin, Ireland, he was ordained on June 14, 1959. His first assignment was to the Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. He spent the next 15 years in Australia. In 1974 he traveled to California where he served the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in various parishes. He retired as pastor of Holy Trinity parish in Atwater Village in 1997 but remained active both at Holy Trinity and the SungSam Korean Center until recently. Fr. John is preceded in death by his parents, Peter Daly and Rose Reilly; his sisters, Phyllis and Mary; and brothers, Peadar and Micheal. He is survived by siblings, Imelda, Patrick (Frances), Joe (Ailish), Oliver (Maureen), Tommy (Marge), Ann, and Gerard, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, family and friends who will cherish his memory forever. Services will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 3722 Boyce Ave., Los Angeles. Vigil Rosary will take place on Friday, January 13, at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 14, at 3pm. A reception will follow at Holy Trinity School adjacent to the church. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City on Tuesday, January 17, at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fr.
