John David Kuhner Obituary
September 3, 1941 - September 29, 2016 John David Kuhner, 75, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Oakland on September 29, 2016. David was born in Chicago, IL, on September 3, 1941 to Vita and Jack Kuhner. David graduated Notre Dame High School in 1959 and St. Mary's College in 1963 before earning his JD from Golden Gate Law School. He became a CPA in 1968 and a member of the California State Bar Association in 1972. His career spanned over 50 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. He founded a successful accounting firm, Devereaux Kuhner and Chin, in San Francisco, where he served as a partner until his death. David was a loyal member of a men's fellowship for over 29 years, where he unselfishly devoted his time to the service of others. He was actively involved with the St. Mary's College Alumni Association and his hobbies included gardening, cooking, and traveling the world. He was passionate about hunting and was a longtime member of Ducks Unlimited. He especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathleen Kuhner; his brother Larry Kuhner; his sister Barbara Kuhner; his stepmother Shirley Kuhner; his children Kevin Kuhner, Patrick Kuhner, Christopher Kuhner, Peter Kuhner, Jan Lustig, Nadja Kuhner, Francesca Kuhner Boyd, and Michael Kuhner; and his grandchildren Charlotte, Jack, Michael Patrick, Paul, Jacqueline, Jovana, Annabelle, Kieran, Calleigh, Jason, and Casey; and his nephews and nieces Andrew, Megan, Shanta, Ananda, and Liam. He was predeceased by his beloved sister Kathy Craven (Kuhner). He touched the lives of thousands more. Services will be held Thursday, October 6th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 756 Mission St., San Francisco, followed immediately by a celebration of David's life at Pier 24 Photography, The Embarcadero, San Francisco.
