John Edward Algeo Obituary
John Edward Algeo passed away peacefully at the age of 75 at his home on Balboa Island. John's life was marked by love for his family: his wife of 45 years, Ann Marie; his daughter Megan Mariani (Paul); his son Ned Algeo (Misha); and his grandchildren Ryan and Pierce Mariani. John was born in Alhambra, CA, in 1942. He attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and after graduating with a BS in Industrial Engineering in 1966 joined Collins Radio (later Rockwell International). He worked there for 30+ years, always striving to do what was right and fair for both the company and its employees. John was also a proud member of the Balboa Yacht Club for over 25 years. Full of intellectual curiosity, John had a quick wit and a disarming grin. He frequently joked that he "was not always right but was never in doubt." He was genuinely interested in helping others and, after intently listening, relished giving professional and personal advice. John was a passionate and hard-working leader throughout his career, although he often boasted that he never once failed to use up all of his vacation days to spend time with his family. When not in Newport Beach, John's boat, and his heart, were anchored in Catalina or Cabo. An avid sport fisherman, John enjoyed fishing trips with his friends in pursuit of marlin and tuna. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the UCLA Brain Research Institute at http://www.bri.ucla.edu/support-us.
