John Howard Lavine, 62, passed away on July 27, 2010 in Los Angeles. He was born on November 18, 1947 to Jesse and Harry Lavine (deceased) in Omaha, Nebraska. The family moved to Los Angeles when John was one year old. He graduated from the Judson School in Scottsdale, AZ and earned his Bachelor of Science from the Menlo College School of Business, graduating cum laude. He also served as a reservist in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1975.

John was a loving father and a caring friend. Nothing brought him more joy than helping to make people's dreams and fantasies come true. He was proprietor of several business ventures throughout his career, including the iconic Picwood Bowl in West Los Angeles, Fantasy Catering and Passive Arts Studios. He enjoyed long trips by train, Star Trek and the beautiful setting of Lake Tahoe. His beloved wolf Coda was always by his side.

He is survived by his sons Dean Lavine, Matthew Lavine and his spouse Amber, his daughter Elana Lavine, his sister Judge Anita Rae Shapiro (ret.) and her spouse and their children.

A private family ceremony will be held in his honor.
