John Redd Vidmar Obituary
September 26, 1921 - April 10, 2016 John Redd Vidmar, 94, passed away at his Los Angeles home on Sunday, April 10, 2016. John was born in Chuquicamata, Chile, to Hazel Redd and John Charles Vidmar. A devoted student, John attended UCLA and then UC-Berkeley, where he received his mechanical engineering degree. Later, he received his master's degree from USC. Post-graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and married Doris Neely. They were married for 49 years and had six children. John worked for Byron Jackson Pumps for 40 years and served in numerous service positions in his community and LDS church. After Doris's death in 1993, John married Marie Ruoff. For five years until Marie's death, they traveled and loved visiting grandchildren. In 2001, John married Marilyn Spence. For fifteen years, they dedicated time to church service and family visits. John will be remembered as a friend to all; he never met a stranger. His immense love for and dedication to his faith, family, and education will forever remain his legacy. John was preceded by Doris and Marie and his children Paul and John. He is survived by his children John (d) (Marcia), Melissa Clark (Jim), Tom (Margaret), Dodie Blake (David), and Peter (Donna); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. and followed by an 11:00 a.m. service on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1215 E Mariposa Ave., El Segundo, CA 90245.
