Joyce Huen Obituary
January 31, 1975 - October 24, 2017 Beloved Daughter, Cherished Fiancée, Dear Friend Born and raised in northern California, Joyce was a beautiful, intelligent, empathetic, compassionate, and devoted daughter who was incredibly close to her mother and father. It was through her parents that Joyce learned the meaning of family, love, and thoughtfulness, which she demonstrated regularly throughout her life. Joyce particularly enjoyed volunteering at Torrance Memorial Medical Center with her Shih Tzu Lilly, and for Special Olympics. Many of Joyce's friends were also considered family, and her love of taking photos document those memories and special times. Joyce's passion for food, travel, and scuba diving took her around the world, where she met her love and soul mate, CJ. With him she inherited an extended family who welcomed her with open arms.   Joyce moved to Los Angeles in 1997 after graduating from the Haas School of Business, University of California-Berkeley. She made her career at Twentieth Century Fox, advancing to the level of Vice President in Production Finance with a team of personnel that were also considered family.  Joyce was a ray of sunshine and positive spirit to every life she touched. Combined with a self-reliant tenacity and the generous support she received from family and friends, she courageously battled breast cancer to the end. Her generosity and smile will forever be missed but always remembered. She made the people around her better. Joyce is survived by her fiancé, CJ (Charles) Gilbert, her parents, Piu and Noreen Huen, her dog, Lilly, and many extended family members and close friends.  A celebration of her life will be held on October 31st at 1:00PM, at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Waisman Breast Cancer Innovation Fund (City of Hope), Torrance Memorial Medical Center, or Hermosa Animal Hospital.
