Joyce Morrissey Obituary
June 24, 1932 - November 6, 2016 Joyce Morrissey left this world to promote women's rights and equality in the next one. She was active and vocal in many organizations: Past State President and Founder Fellow of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women; Past Board Member, and Lifetime Member of the Los Angeles Girl Scout Council; Past Board Member of the Downtown Women's Center. She attended the 4th International Women's Conference in Beijing, and in 1989 was honored as Woman of the Year by the Commission on the Status of Women, Los Angeles County. She was a member of Uni-Fem, UNA, on the Board of the Friends of Glendale Public Library and the 1st woman president of the Board at First Congregational Church, Los Angeles. A long time insurance broker with Cass & Johansing, she was proud of being the oldest licensed female insurance broker in CA, spanning a career of over 50 years. Joyce is survived by her brother, John Morrissey. The love of her life, Carlos Kumpe pre-deceased her, as did her brother James Morrissey and sister Mary Lou Jones. A memorial service will be held on Dec. 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Shatto Chapel of First Congregational Church, 540 South Commonwealth, Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, Joyce would appreciate a donation to supporting women's issues.
