Judith Gail Lipton Obituary
January 19, 1940 - August 16, 2017 Died August 16th after a heroic battle with ovarian cancer. Cherished and devoted mother to Noah and Megan (Mario), adoring grandmother to Thalia and Rosa, loving aunt to Corinne, Ethan and Lowell, and a compassionate loyal friend to so, so many. Judy was an adventurous, generous, and resilient woman who loved life and made the most of it. She broke bread with princes and paupers while hitchhiking for over 3 years through Europe and Asia in the late 60s making lifelong friendships. Returning to Los Angeles, she married Terry Lipton with whom she shared 38 loving years and raised their children in their Westwood home accumulating treasures and tchotchkes from their own adventures around the world. Her house was always open for travelers, exchange students, friends, and family from near and far. In her fifties she ran two marathons, got her Masters in Public Health, and began a 20-year career teaching health at community colleges. She was a lifelong intrepid adventurer, having just been living with pygmies in Cameroon before falling ill. She loved art, reading, and entertaining. Judy had friends of all ages from all walks of life. She encouraged and inspired others to take chances, accept opportunities, and not take themselves too seriously. Judy truly embodied the saying live life to the fullest. She did not "go gentle into that good night." Service will be held Monday at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 Centinela Ave, Los Angeles 90045.
