Julian Flores Mendoza Obituary
January 9, 1927 - October 6, 2015 Julian F. Mendoza, a 56 year resident of Lomita, passed away peacefully, with family at his side, on October 6, 2015, finally succumbing to complications of Parkinson's disease. Julian was a devoted family man, a husband and father, son and brother, grandpa and great-grandpa. He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, and true love, Julia. Julian was born in Lompoc, California on January 9, 1927 to Pablo and Dolores Mendoza. He was the youngest of his four siblings, Ismael, David, Joaquin and sister Magdalena. The family relocated to Redondo Beach where he attended Beryl Heights Elementary and Redondo Union High School. Julian entered the Navy, following the military lead of his three brothers, and served in WWII. He met and married the love of his life Julia, in 1951. Shortly after that, they settled in Lomita, with their 4 children, which survive him, Madalen, Ermelinda(Doug), Edward(Christine), and Julian(Lisa). He was very involved in the activities of his children and spent many hours at the Lomita Little League field, coaching and volunteering his time with the kids. His home was always open to one and all, as was evident by his annual Christmas Eve open house, where Mariachi music would play proudly for his guests. Julian also has 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was employed with Lucky Markets for nearly 40 years. Throughout his life, Julian enjoyed music and dancing. He and Julia would make the Black and White Ball an annual event. Julian was also a member of the San Pedro Elks Club, which served as the venue to where he and his wife would continue their dancing, in the company of family and friends. A rosary service will be held on Wednesday, Oct 14th, at 7:00p.m., and a Mass celebration will follow on Thursday, Oct 15th, at 10:00 a.m. Both events to take place at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, in Lomita, followed by a burial ceremony at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes.
