June 2, 1919 - May 22, 2015 Lifetime resident, Santa Monica. At age 16 she earned a #10 ranking in California Junior Girl's Tennis. Ms. Carpenter graduated from Santa Monica H.S. Santa Monica College, Wright Secretarial School & California Art School. An avid athlete she also became an excellent golfer. Employed at MGM when WWII declared, she volunteered at Hollywood Canteen and joined U.S. Navy as a WAVE, 1944. June was honored to represent film industry women veterans at 1946 Academy Awards ceremony. Following military discharge she was employed by Warner Bros. and became Personal Assistant to Director John Huston. She left Huston to open a bath accessory manufacturing business dba, June Carpenter of California selling custom goods to major retailers across the U.S. She and husband Richard C. Lord also operated a retail store at the Hollywood Farmers' Market for several years. Throughout her life, Ms. Carpenter attended art classes, workshops and became an accomplished award-winning artist. She had belonged to the Malibu Art Association, Pacific Palisades Association and Palos Verdes Art Center. At the time of death she was a resident at Sunrise Senior Living in Santa Monica.
