April 4, 1939 - October 8, 2016 Karel Sophia Kohl, devoted, caring and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and loyal friend. She was a longtime resident of Woodland Hills. She died on Saturday, October 8, 2016. Born in Chicago, Il, April 04, 1939, to Bunny and Loue Bass. Moved to Los Angeles with her sister, Rene, in 1948. Karel worked for Standard Oil after graduation from Inglewood High. She met her love of her life in 1960, through Ray's sister, Carol, and they were married on Valentine's Day-01/12/1961. They were happily married for 55+ years. They had two extraordinary children, Jeff and Jill. She was family orientated and devoted her life to her family. Karel loved cooking and was a gourmet cook and fabulous hostess. She also loved art, music, playing cards, movies, reading, traveling around the globe, with her anniversary group and family club. She also loved dogs-Max and Marnie. She was a role model. The charity organizations she supported were United Jewish & Appeal, Concern for Cancer and Junior Blind. Karel survived by her husband, Ray; her daughter, Jill; son, Jeff and wife; grandchildren, nieces, nephews; sister, Carol, and her husband, Nate. Karel was a selfless woman who was kind, loving, gracious, supportive, accepting and generous, and she will surely be missed by all those lives she touched and loved.
