January 24, 1943 - June 19, 2017 Kathryn Baer died early in the morning June 19, 2017 at the age of 74. She was predeceased by her husband Jesse McCorry and her younger sister Marjorie. She is survived by her brother Thomas Baer (Susan White) and their children, Lola Koch and Cecilia White-Baer, whose educations she generously underwrote. She is also survived by her brother Philip Baer (Joyce Brunelle), and her late husband's daughters Erika McCorry, Tracey McCorry and Leah McCorry-Miller. Kathryn was born in Philadelphia to Max and Alice Baer a few months before Max was drafted into the Army. The family relocated to Los Angeles after the war, where her siblings were born. Kathryn had a distinguished academic career. She was graduated from Wellesley College Phi Beta Kappa and a Durant scholar. She subsequently earned her doctorate in English and American Literature from UC Berkeley. She taught at Washington University in St. Louis, where she met Dr. Jesse McCrory. Their careers took them to Washington DC, he to work in the Carter Administration and later under contract with USAID and the World Bank, she in the legal department at Howard University. Later she worked for Rep (D-MI) John Conyers, followed by employment in the governmental affairs department of McDonalds Corp.
