Kevin Parnell McNamara Obituary
Kevin Parnell McNamara was born in South Melbourne, Australia July 11, 1919 and passed away on November 10, 2017. Resident of Newbury Park, CA, Kevin died peacefully at home surrounded by his beautiful family. Kevin was raised in Melbourne, Australia where he attended Parade High School and continued his studies at Melbourne Technical College where he received a degree in engineering. In August 1952, he met the love of his life Dorothy Jean Ballantyne where they were married in London and celebrated 62 years of marriage together. Kevin was privileged to have worked for the British Consulate consulting with companies in New York and San Francisco on trade development. Kevin had a hand in bringing over the first CAT scan and kidney dialysis machines to the US. One of his fondest stories he shared with people was having bag lunches with Bill Hewlett, founder of the company we now know as HP. One of Kevin's biggest accomplishments was being awarded the MBE - Member of the British Empire - by Queen Elizabeth of England. One of his proudest moments, was watching his younger daughter Julianne Lyn McNamara win gold and two silver medals in the 1984 Olympics for Gymnastics. He loved traveling the world, gardening, remodeling houses, reading and writing poetry, and spending time with his family. Kevin was a gentleman to the end with an incredible sense of humor and love for life and God. He is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy Jean and his three daughters - Margo Kennedy (AU), Elizabeth Thompson, and Julianne McNamara. His legacy continues with nine grandchildren - Louise Miller (AU), Pauline Setterfield (AU), Garrett Zeile, Hannah Zeile, Kevin Thompson, Larsen Thompson, Ian Zeile, Aaron Zeile, and Luke Thompson - and five great-grandchildren. He is now resting in the arms of the Lord. Psalm 39:7 "And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you." Your family and friends love and miss you and can't wait for the day to reunite in heaven.
