Larry A. Gans Obituary
September 3, 1942 - December 22, 2016 Larry Gans, 74, passed away peacefully at Tarzana Hospital after suffering a stroke. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Larry, his parents Leo and Lenny Gans (deceased), sister Phyllis (deceased), and brother Jerry moved to California to live in the sun after Larry's 13th birthday. He attended Washington High School and then went on to UCLA where he graduated with a degree in business and accounting which led to a career of over 50 years as a CPA. During his time at UCLA, Larry met his adoring wife, Shelley, who he married in 1964. After settling in Northridge, the two traveled the world together. They enjoyed experiencing different cultures, seeing the sites, and learning about the history wherever they went. Larry couldn't wait to get on a plane for the next new adventure! Larry was, at the heart of hearts, a family man. He adored his daughters, Sheryl and Marcie. There wasn't a thing that he wouldn't do for them, or his wife, parents, sister, brother, and the entire extended family. In fact, he was always there for all family and friends, no matter the circumstance. Coming in a close second to his devotion to his family was his love for his UCLA Bruins. He had season tickets to UCLA football games for over 40 years, and wouldn't miss a televised game for just about anything. GO BRUINS!!! Larry had other passions as well. He loved sunny days at the horse races where he let his grandkids (Kevin, Justin, and Emily) choose horses and he would place their bets. Family BBQ's and trips to Vegas were a must. He loved his career as a CPA and enjoyed his friendships with his clients. In fact, he loved it so much that he continued working and seeing some of those clients/friends well after "retiring!" Larry's quirky sense of humor, friendly smile, and devotion to all who knew him will be forever remembered. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 52 years, Shelley Gans, brother Jerry Gans (Linda), daughters Sheryl Silberberg and Marcie Borses (Barry), grandchildren Kevin Silberberg, Emily and Justin Borses, and nephew Monty Maguire. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the . Funeral services will be held at Mount Sinai in Hollywood Hills on Monday, December 26th at 12:30pm.
