Lauren Ashley Towle Obituary
April 5, 1984 - March 19, 2017 PASADENA, Calif./BARRE, Vt. - Lauren Ashley Towle, 32, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was reunited with her beautiful mother, Kimie, who predeceased her on June 24, 2009. As a child, Lauren was diagnosed with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (MD). She handled the effects of the disease bravely and never allowed the physical limitations of her MD to define her or prevent her from blossoming into a fiercely independent and successful woman. A beautiful person with a dazzling smile, Lauren had the courage to live her life exactly how she wanted to and never took the easy way out. Lauren was born April 5, 1984, in Northridge, California, to Bradford and Kimie Towle and grew up in Barre, Vermont. She graduated from Spaulding High School in 2002 and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2006 with a BFA in Graphic Design. During her time at Edinboro, Lauren was a loyal sister in the Delta Zeta sorority, and she remained an active member throughout her life, dedicated to the sisters she cherished and memories that came from their times together. After college, Lauren was drawn to the excitement of big-city life and lived in Hoboken, New Jersey, where her apartment overlooked the Hudson River and the Empire State Building in New York City. She most recently called Pasadena home in order to be closer to several family members and to soak up the sunshine and warmth she craved. Lauren was an immensely talented artist and was one of the lucky to parlay her passion into a successful career. She worked as a graphic designer - even designing priceless pieces, including wedding invitation stationery, which will be forever treasured by several close friends. In addition, she donated much of her talents to non-profit organizations. Lauren's contagious smile and curious, compassionate, and outgoing nature attracted friends from coast to coast. She loved books, fashion, reality TV, popular music, and having lunch with her grandma on Saturdays. Her pets also brought a special light to her life. She is survived by her father, Bradford, of Barre, Vermont; sisters Megan Judge and her husband, Dominic, and niece and nephew, Autumn and Wyatt, of San Luis Obispo, California; and Lindsay Brooks and her husband, Kyle, of Milford, Connecticut; grandmother Tomiko Modracek; aunts and uncles; and an abundance of close friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Kimie Towle. Two celebrations of Lauren's life will be held: the first on March 28 at 1 p.m. at Perch, 448 S. Hill St., 13th Floor, Los Angeles, and the second on April 15 at noon at Positive Pie, 219 N. Main St., Barre, Vermont. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in contributions to the Lauren Towle Memorial Scholarship Fund (www.youcaring.com/lauren-towle-delta-zeta).
