Dr. Lawrence Edward Gershon Obituary
September 28, 1939 - October 8, 2017 Passed away peacefully on October 8, 2017, in his beloved wife's arms. His battle with pancreatic cancer was fought with a brave demeanor and a warm smile. He was deeply loved by his wife Bobbi, his children David (Samantha) Gershon, Lauren (Jeffrey) Rips, and Dr. Risa Grand, and grandchildren Ellie, Joshua, Jacob, Ali, Leo, Sebastian, Fiona, and Delilah. His grandchildren were the light of his life. Larry was a physician in Lakewood, California, for over 40 years. He was a well-respected endocrinologist who was dedicated to his profession. With his variety of interests, he was a true Renaissance man. Hobbies included silversmithing, wine making, cycling, learning languages, bread baking, gourmet cooking, astronomy, and astrophotography. When he retired from medicine, he kept his mind sharp by taking masters classes in astronomy, astrophysics, and the evolving universe. He earned 12 diplomas from respectable online international universities. He enjoyed stargazing at night and chasing eclipses. He and Bobbi had many amazing trips together while following Larry's passion for celestial events. They met many special friends who shared their common interest. Special trips included Siberia, Australia, and the Galapagos. Larry also loved spending time in Yosemite where he would stay up all night taking pictures while sitting in the meadow by his cabin. He also enjoyed spending time with Bobbi in their condominium in Palm Desert. Special thanks to caretakers Lupita and Rosa. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. The universe gained another star. Donations in Larry's honor may be made to the Alpert JCC in Long Beach, CA.
