Lawrence (Larry) Slaten Obituary
July 15, 1929 - January 27, 2017 Passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles, CA. Beloved, adored, cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend to so many - he was larger than life, always elegant and dapper, the life of the party with a generous and giving soul. Larry will be remembered as a pioneer builder and art auctioneer, two careers that spanned decades which he excelled at and which brought him much pleasure and fulfillment. Larry is survived by his adoring wife of 54 years, Florine, his loving brother Sheldon (Phyllis Parvin) Slaten and devoted sister Helene (Jerry) Lawrence. Preceded in death were his sisters Clarice Bailey and Ruth Schwartz and his two sons Frank Jeffrey and Mark Allan. He is survived by his beloved children - Debbie (Jim) Marek, Lori (Carlo) Papazian and Jodi (Barry) Meyer - and his many wonderful nieces and nephews. His grandchildren were the joys in his life and he was their "Papa". Fabi, Jamie and Mikaela Meyer and golden "Warner"; Drue, Cayden and Colin Sloat, Adam Olsen, Isaiah and Emma. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff of Good Samaritan Hospital for the tremendous care they gave Larry. Special thanks to Reyna (Liz) Montealegre and Bryan Razon for the love and care they gave Larry and Florine and all of our family. The funeral services will be held on Monday, January 30th at 11.00am at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary, 6001 W. Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90045. All are welcome.
