Lee Poulsen Obituary
December 8, 1935 - August 26, 2016 Lee K. Poulsen, of North Hollywood, died peacefully on August 26 with loving family at his side. He was 80. Lee was born in Brigham City, Utah, on December 8, 1935, and grew up on his family's farm in nearby Corinne. As a young man he moved to Los Angeles following service in the Army. After a brief, unsuccessful turn as a professional card player, in 1961 he began a 30 year career as a city mechanic, maintaining police cruisers at the LAPD's Hollywood Division. In 1973 his wife of 10 years died tragically, leaving Lee and their two small children. The next year he met Bernadine at a church function, and their mutual courtship led to an inspiring, enduring marriage. In retirement, Lee enjoyed league bowling, restoring classic cars, and breeding exotic guppies. His life was defined by decency and quiet strength, generosity and loving support for family. He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia Poulsen, and sisters Gayle Emord and Lucille Chanaud. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Bernadine Poulsen, his son Kevin Poulsen, his daughter Debra Poulsen, his sister Donna Petkow, and his grandchildren Heather Kreim, Sadelle Poulsen and Asher Poulsen. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in North Hollywood.
