Lenore Claire Weinstein

Obituary Condolences

Always full of life, Lenore Claire Weinstein, 90, passed away on July 10, 2015. Part of her legacy is the web of love she created around her family. Her daughters, and especially her grandchildren, were the light of her life. Born in NY, she moved to LA when she was an infant. First settling in Boyle Heights, she later attended Fairfax HS and UCLA where she earned her Masters. Lenore was a teacher with LAUSD for 35 years, as well as a CPA. She met her soul mate and future husband, Jerry Weinstein, on a blind date. They were married for nearly 50 years before he left us in 2003. Lenore lived in Tarzana until she moved to the Jewish Home 5 years ago. Vibrant and with an unbelievable zest for life, she was determined to enjoy life to the fullest. Her passions included charity, politics and a love for the arts. Among other pursuits, she was a docent at the Japanese Garden. Lenore leaves behind daughters Shelley (Rick), Laurie (Roger) and Jill (Bruce), and her beloved grandchildren Hannah, Miranda, Sean, Sarah, Genna and Elana. Her brother Irving Friedman died in 1982. Memorial services are at Eden Cemetery July 19 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made on her behalf to National Cancer Institute, NIH, earmarked for Thymoma research.
