Leo Block Obituary
June 15, 1920 - December 1, 2016 Leo Block, 96, WW II Navy veteran, businessman, inventor, author, and sailor passed away at home in San Clemente, December 1, 2016. His family settled in Los Angeles in 1923 from Russia. In December 1941 Leo was stationed on the USS MacDonough when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. After the war he graduated from USC and had a successful engineering career. He retired from RayPak Corp. in 1983 and spent the remainder of his life in San Clemente with his wife Shirley. He was an avid sailor and raced well into his 90's at the Dana Point Yacht Club. A celebration of his life will be Wed., Jan. 11, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in San Clemente; interment to follow at Miramar National Cemetery, Miramar, CA, at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dana Point Harbor Youth Foundation: www.dphyf.org.
