For the past 25 years he has served the Archdiocese in Los Angeles working in 7 different parishes. His parishioners remember him as a caring presence that extended beyond the altar and into their daily lives. Father Leo's last parish was Incarnation Parish in Glendale, CA. He would post on Facebook on Sunday mornings that "The church is open and, all are welcome". Father Leo was born December 3, 1961 in Montebello, CA, to Lyle and Denise Alberg. He went to St. Benedict's School, for a short time, because in the fall of 1968, the family moved to Independence, MO. There he attended St. Mary's Grade School, from 1st grade thru 8th grade and then continued at St. Mary's High School until February 1978 of his sophomore year, when the family moved to Arcadia, CA. He graduated from Arcadia High School in 1980. After high school he moved with the family to Hemet, CA, and attended Mt. San Jacinto Junior College and graduated with his Associates in Arts degree. Two of his greatest honors were to be on the alter and help serve at the Mass presided by Pope John Paul II in Los Angeles, in 1987, and to take his mother to meet the Pope John Paul II, in Rome, in October, 26, 2000. Father Leo loved to travel, and he especially enjoyed Ireland. His other favorite place was Oxnard and the beach. He was always looking for his next adventure. He was preceded in death by his father Lyle William Alberg. He is survived by his mother, Denise Alberg, brothers, Michael Alberg (Sharon), Jeremiah Alberg (Yumi), Reed Alberg (Kim), and sisters, Maryalice Alberg Owings (Eric) and Julia Alberg Burbank (Tom). Glenoaks Blvd., Glendale, CA, and his funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, at 555 West Temple St., Los Angeles, CA.
