Leonora Theresa Mahoney Obituary
January 5, 1927 - December 20, 2017 Leonora T. Mahoney (née Vincenzini), known most of her life as "Pat", passed away Dec. 20, 2017 at her home following a brief illness. She was born on January 5, 1927 in South San Francisco, California, the second child of Angelina (Galli) and Lawrence Vincenzini. Leonora graduated from South San Francisco High School in 1945 and went on to study at College of San Mateo and U.C. Berkeley. She transferred to San Jose State College and graduated in 1950 with a double major with degrees in Education and Library Science. She returned to her local high school where she was the school librarian and coordinator for eight years. In 1956 she was married to (Edward) Vincent Mahoney at All Souls Church, where she also was baptized, received first communion and confirmation as a child. They moved to Southern California with their four children. She enjoyed continuing a career in education. When her youngest child started school Leonora also went back to school as first grade teacher at Saint Euphrasia in Granada Hills. For ten years she taught first grade and for fifteen years she was school principal at Saint Euphrasia. This was also her parish and while serving as teacher and principal she earned her MA degree in Education at Loyola Marymount University in 1980. Since Saint Euphrasia was also her parish she had the pleasure of serving as well as working in her parish with her husband Vincent, their four children, and many friends and families of the parish for 50 years. Leonora (Pat) is survived by her daughter, Nora Lucas (Charles), sons Peter (Debbie), Matthew, and Daniel (Stephanie), and grandson Brett Mahoney, granddaughters Kelsey and Carlie Lucas. She has one surviving sister Mary Marchi (Jack), nieces Maria and Gina Marchi. Also surviving is a nephew, Jeffrey Vincenzini, and other nieces, Lynn Carranza and Susan Tenerowicz. Leonora (Pat) and Vincent enjoyed many travels during their 52 years together. They especially enjoyed being members of a Book Club for 50 years. These were wonderful friends. The children and the many families at St. Euphrasia Parish were always a special part of her life. She always wished she knew the many techniques that have been found for helping children to learn and also advising their parents. In lieu of floral donations send contributions to assist the Saint Euphrasia School Library. A Rosary will be held Friday, December 29, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Saint Euphrasia Church. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 10:00 am at Saint Euphrasia Church, 11766 Shoshone Ave., Granada Hills.
