Leslie (Les) Yen Obituary
December 1, 1937 - November 5, 2016 Les Yen passed away at home in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, on November 5, 2016 after a 2-1/2 year battle with cancer. He was born in London, England to Youngson and Amy Yen of Shanghai, China. In 1947 his father, a diplomat, was assigned to Rome, Italy where Les attended the American Overseas School of Rome. After his graduation from AOSR the family immigrated to the U.S. He received his BS from San Jose State University and MSEE from UCLA. He worked for and provided consulting services to several aerospace companies, including Contraves Italiana of Rome, Italy. He retired from Northrop Grumman in Virginia and moved back to CA in June 2013. Survivors include his wife Jane; son Derek and 3 grandchildren Jordan, Madison and Aidan of Chandler, AZ; son Michael and fiancée Kathryn Riley of San Diego; brothers Robert (Mariuccia) of Litchfield, CT; Boris of Lake Tahoe; Peter (Maria) of Walnut Creek, CA, and sister Doreen of Sunnyvale, CA; nieces Julie (Ken) Kitahara of Greenwich, CT and Alexandra (Brian) Rauchfuss of Shingle Springs, CA; nephews Christopher Yen of Orinda ,CA, Darryl Yen of El Cerrito, CA, and Stephen (Megan) Yen of Spokane, WA as well as numerous relatives throughout the U.S. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 31290 Palos Verdes Drive West in Rancho Palos Verdes.
