He was the second child of Lilyan and Henry Stueck, and preceded in death by his sister Mary Lou Cunningham. Lew is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Donna; his sister Monica Facchino; his children Julie Stueck, Monica Stueck, Kristina (Larry) Williams and Henry Stueck; and grandson Brandon Sardo. Lew introduced the single wing formation to Loyola and guided the Cubs to their first CIF championship. As an assistant coach at UCLA, Lew helped the Bruins in their Rose Bowl victory over Michigan State. Lew served as defensive coordinator at the University of Wisconsin from 1970-76. After working in the insurance industry, he returned to coaching to establish La Salle High School's football program. Prior to retiring, Lew worked at Verbum Dei as a teacher and athletic director. In 2014, Lew was awarded the prestigious Cahalan Award given to Loyola alumni for their contributions to the community. A memorial mass will be held at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Loyola High School, 1901 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90006.
