Lillian Ruvinsky Molmud Obituary
July 9, 1925 - March 5, 2016 Lillian Ruvinsky Molmud, 90, died at home, as she wished, with family and caregivers holding her hands. Born to Louis and Frieda Ruvinsky, she grew up with an extended family of Russian immigrants in Brooklyn (Brownsville), NY. She was a gifted commercial artist, attending Girls' Commercial High and Cooper Union. In her teens, she met Sam Molmud (her North, her South, her East, her West). His love, sense of humor and intellect made them a dynamic team. They moved to California to thrive and raise a family. Favorite memories were their annual summer vacations in Yosemite. They had a rich and loving marriage for 67 years until his death in 2005. In her 40's she graduated college and began a passionate career teaching 6th graders, primarily at Monlux Elementary. She brought her love of art and music to her teaching, opening whole worlds of expression to generations of students who never forgot her influence. In her last years, she loved creating modernistic collage art pieces with her family, which she proudly framed and displayed in the beautiful home she created. She is survived by 3 children, Lise Bixler (Cliff), Martha Soneira (Gary) and Larry Molmud (Alex), 8 beloved grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, extended family, special neighbors and by her loving caregivers Julia Farias and Annamaria Miklos, to whom the family will always be grateful for their tender, respectful care and love. She is remembered by the many people touched by her compassion and her vivacious spirit. Donations in her name can be made to UNICEF.
