Linda Rivera-Venezia Obituary
February 12, 1946 - April 1, 2017 Daughter of Dr. Gabriel A. Rivera and Maria Bertha Obando Rivera, Linda was born in Los Angeles on February 12, 1946. She attended St. Agnes and Cathedral Chapel Elementary Schools, Immaculate Heart High School, and received her B.A. from Immaculate Heart College. She studied for her teaching credential at Occidental College and received her Master's degree in Bilingual Education at Cal State Northridge. She taught for LA Unified School District for 41 years at Euclid Avenue, Malabar, and Murchison Street Elementary Schools. Involved in sports, art, and tap dancing as a youngster, she maintained those interests all the way to the end. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jay Venezia, having first met on a blind date. She will always be in the hearts of her loving family, her brother Dr. Gabriel A. Rivera, Jr., sister-in-law Mary Rose Rivera, their children Gabriel III (Jill), Nicole, and Tania (Albert); her sister, Mannon Rivera Hayward, brother-in-law Toby Hayward, their children Toby Jr. and Kelly Kogan (Max); her great-nephews Nicholas, Grady, and Payson; and the many Rivera and Obando cousins. Services will be at Forest Lawn, Glendale, on Saturday, April 29 at 9:00 AM, followed by a celebration of her life at her beloved alma mater, Immaculate Heart High School starting at 12:00 PM. A donation in her memory can be made to one of the schools she taught at, or to Immaculate Heart High School.
