Lois Weil Harwin Obituary
April 17, 1928 - April 13, 2017 Lois Weil Harwin, beloved Wife of Dixon R. Harwin, deeply cherished Mother, Grandmother and Aunt to her family, and the most wondrous of souls to all who had the joy of knowing her, left us on April 13, 2017 for her next journey. She is survived by a world of those who loved and adored her, including her children, Gay L. Harwin, Esquire, Craig Joel Harwin, M.D., and Starr Harwin Bleimeister, together with her worshipped grandchildren, Joelle Harwin, Brett Harwin, Tory Harwin and Isabel Bleimeister, daughter-in-law, Debra Strauss Harwin, M.D., son-in-law, Rand Bleimeister, nephew, Jeffrey Weil, and her housekeeper of over 40 years, Aracely Garmendez. Born in Connecticut and raised in New York, Lois spent her late teen years and early adulthood as a singer on Broadway under the tutelage of Cole Porter and others. However, her dream was always to marry and raise a family and that she did, with profound wisdom, deep love, the force of her convictions and a wicked sense of humor, together with matching shoes and bag. To say she will be missed somehow seems so small in light of her grandness. It is simply impossible to imagine this life without her. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on April 19, 2017 at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, California 90068. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her profound commitment to charitable work and service to others, please send donations to (i) The Mitzvah Project, 9301 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 507, Beverly Hills, California 90210, (ii) Survivor Mitzvah Project, 2658 Griffith Park Boulevard, Suite 299, Los Angeles, California 90039, and/or (iii) The Jewish Home for the Aging, each of which she supported with a passion.
