Lorraine Pfirrmann Obituary
January 4, 1924 - June 18, 2017 Lorraine Pfirrmann, age 93, daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, was born and raised in Los Angeles, the only child of Joe and Helen Loge. Lorraine attended Wilton Elementary, John Burroughs Jr. High and LA High School. She was an excellent student, graduating at the top of her high school class in 1942. Over the next 50 years, she organized many of her high school class reunions. Lorraine attended UCLA, joined the Chi Omega sorority, and earned a degree in accounting in 1945. She worked for a small stock brokerage firm 1945-1952, when the Dow Jones Industrial Average was under 200 points. Lorraine loved dances at the Cocoanut Grove, with music by Freddy Martin, Merv Griffin, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, and Lawrence Welk. Lorraine married Ken Pfirrmann in 1949 and they raised three children. She was a role model mother - kind, loving, considerate, honest, and dependable, and a volunteer who supported her children's many activities. In 1964, Lorraine joined Laderians, a wonderful group of women from Knox Presbyterian Church and Ladera Heights who became some of her closest friends. For over 30 years, Lorraine prepared most Laderian monthly lunches herself, often for 100 or more ladies. Lorraine was gifted at caring for others. Whenever a neighbor, family member, church member or friend was sick, Lorraine would bring them meals, take them to the doctor, call to check on them, or just keep them company. She focused more on serving others than on her own enjoyment. Lorraine loved her family, cooking, vacationing in Hawaii, watching Lawrence Welk, playing paddle tennis (in earlier years), and desserts like ice cream and See's candies. Lorraine is survived by her half-brother, Martin Loge, three children, Dennis, Philip and Dolly, and four grandchildren, Michael, Henry, Charles, and Michelle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Laderians c/o Knox Presbyterian Church, 5840 La Tijera Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90056.
