Louis Weider Obituary
February 12, 1932 - June 26, 2016 After a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Santa Barbara resident Louis Weider passed away peacefully on June 26th with his wife Bernice at his side. Lou was born in Los Angeles on February 12, 1932. He attended college at the University of California Berkeley, where he first met and subsequently married Bernice. He began his career as a CPA and relocated his young family to Los Angeles in 1959. While living in Los Angeles, he started his own real estate investment business. After raising four children, he and Bernice moved to Santa Barbara where he was an active member, and generous supporter of the local Jewish community. In addition to Bernice, his wife of 64 years, Lou is survived by his four children, Deni, Lori, Daryl and Larry, as well as seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Lou, who was the only son of a grocery store owner from Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, was the first member of his family to attend college. He embodied the American spirit, working odd jobs to put himself through college. He was a "self-made" man who owned and managed numerous real estate projects. Despite his strong work ethic, he had an easygoing and warm personality which earned him the admiration of everyone he met. In both actions and words, he was a wonderful role model to all who knew him. Most of all, Lou was a loving and devoted husband and father. He loved his wife Bernice beyond measure. May his memory be a blessing.
