Louise Olmsted Dougherty Obituary
January 19, 1919 - March 9, 2017 Louise Olmsted Dougherty passed away peacefully on March 9, 2017 at the age of 98, surrounded by love. She was born in New Rochelle, New York. Her parents, Helen Olmsted and Clarence "Curly" Olmsted moved with her to Los Angeles where she attended Marlborough School. She continued her education at Bennett College in Millbrook, NY and Catherine Gibbs in New York City returning to Los Angeles. She is survived by a daughter and 5 sons (including one pre-deceased son), 8 grandchildren, (including two pre-deceased grandchildren) and 9 great grandchildren. A Pasadena resident for 70 years, she volunteered her time and generously supported many local, national, and international charitable organizations including membership in the Pasadena Guild to Children's Hospital, The Luminaires, The Los Angeles Equestrienne Order of the Holy Sepulcher, as a Dame of the Knights of Malta, and Los Angeles Orphanage. She was also a founding member of the Art Center 100. She was the elegant matriarch of our family, meticulously planning and arranging frequent get togethers for family members and close friends. She hostessed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter dinners, often at her beloved Valley Hunt Club and Shiro's restaurant in South Pasadena. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to: Doheny Eye Institute, Development & Public Affairs, Post Office Box 86228 Cabot & Sons, Pasadena
