Lowell S. Gold Obituary
December 1924 - November 2017 Lowell S. Gold, 92, a third generation Angelino, passed away on November 7, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. A member of the greatest generation, Lowell served in the U.S. Army-Aircorp in the South Pacific in WW2. When he returned from the war, he attended UCLA and then joined his father in operating Leslie Gold Jewelers, which his son Marc still operates today. Lowell's work ethic was unparalleled, working six days a week for 70 years. He had an avid intellectual curiosity, and was an obsessive reader, including of the Los Angeles Times (cover-to-cover until his very last day). He had a special affection for history, current events, and astronomy. But his true passion was his family. He and his wife Della had a 63-year love affair. They were inseparable and lived a rich life filled with family, friends, and travel. He had incredible pride and love for his children and grandchildren. Nothing would make him happier than spending time with the family. He was the inspirational center of a large and growing family, and will be deeply missed. Lowell was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Leslie Gold, and by his brother, Melville Gold. Lowell is survived by his children Marc Gold (Cheryl), Melanie Gold (Kennedy Gammage), Leslie Gold Meakin (Marcus), and his grandchildren, Lisa Gold Faguet (Alex), Rochelle Gold (Danny Valdez), Matthew Meakin, Justin Gold (Sophia), Oliver Meakin (Janet), Seth Meakin, and Benjamin Gold Gammage. Funeral Services will be held this Friday at 1pm at Eden Mortuary 11500 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills, CA 91345.
