Lucille E. Blatt Obituary
June 21, 1918 - April 3, 2017 Born in Chicago, the third of five children of Samuel and Bertha Blatt, Lucille was raised in Ft. Worth, Texas, Boulder, Colorado, New Llano, Louisiana, and Huntley, Wyoming. She and the family settled in California in 1935 where she attended Pasadena Junior College. An accomplished singer, she studied voice in Los Angeles and Chicago, and sang with the Pasadena Opera. In 1946, with her mother, she founded the Jewish American Book Shop on Fairfax Ave., where she served the synagogue and Jewish school communities. She was the beloved center of an extended family, supporting and encouraging her siblings, nieces and nephews, and their children. For over 50 years, she oversaw the family property on Sierra Bonita Ave. where she was a good friend to neighbors and tenants alike. She is survived by 9 nieces and nephews, 9 grandnieces and nephews, and 3 sisters-in-law. Services will be at 12:30pm, Wednesday, April 12, at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills.
