Lynn Simross Obituary
Lynn Simross, 78, a longtime staff writer for the Los Angeles Times, died May 3 in Riviera Beach, Fla., after a chronic illness. She joined The Times in 1975 as a feature writer for a section then called View and retired in 1993, moving to Pompano Beach. At The Times, she did early coverage of the AIDS epidemic and covered equestrian events at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Later, as a member of the newspaper's community relations department, she was the liaison for The Times in its partnership benefiting Ninth Street School downtown. Lynn was born in Newark, Ohio. After graduating from Purdue University, she moved to New York, where she was a staff writer for Sports Illustrated. In retirement, she was active in Democratic politics and managed local political campaigns. A private service was held in Florida.
