Madeline Ruth Schwartz Obituary
May 12, 1937 - October 30, 2017 Passed away peacefully on October 30, surrounded by her kids and grandkids. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harvey, and later by her adoring companion, Charles "Chuck" Solomon. Survived by her cherished children, Barry (Marilyn), Mark (Lynda), and Karen (Jose); and grandchildren, Avery, Dylan, Evan, Mia, Chloe, Jake, Cameron, and Ema; brother Alan (Sue), niece Julie (Brandon) and nephews, Craig (predeceased), Cole and Gavin. Madeline was an amazing mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and she was loved by all who knew her. She was a trailblazer as one of the first successful female commercial real estate agents in Los Angeles. Her real estate career started in the early 1970s, and she went on to become the leading office space broker in the San Fernando Valley while at CBRE. She was strong, independent, graceful, optimistic, and caring. Her family and friends knew they could always count on her for anything they might need. After she retired, she became a docent at the Skirball Cultural Center, where she loved giving tours to the children who visited. She greatly enjoyed spending time with all of her friends, and she loved playing bridge at El Caballero Country Club. Contributions in her memory can be sent to the Skirball Cultural Center. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 3rd at 12:30pm at Mount Sinai, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, followed by a reception at El Cab.
