Marcia Frances (Salter) Gottsegen Obituary
May 18, 1931 - April 25, 2017 Marcia Frances Gottsegen, wife to William Lawrence Gottsegen for 58 years, died April 25, 2017. She passed peacefully at home in Encino, California, at the age of 85, surrounded by her beloved and adoring family. Marcia was born on May 18th, 1931 in New York to Edward and Blanche Salter. Possessed of a swift, bawdy wit and an unmistakable elegance, Marcia lived with contagious passion -- for her art, for her family, and most of all for her devoted husband Billy. A longtime survivor of MS, forever and implausibly undaunted and uncomplaining, there was no suffering she couldn't turn to laughter and joy. Marcia was a stoic and a class act, and is greatly missed by her surviving family, sister Susan Elin Kaplan married to Neil Kaplan and family, sister-in-law Susan Gottsegen and family; daughter Lisa Hoffman married to Dustin Hoffman, son Lee Gottsegen married to Gina Menza, daughter Janey Gottsegen; grandchildren Jenna Culligan married to Seamus Culligan, Jacob Hoffman, Rebecca Jansen married to Lucas Jansen, Maxwell Hoffman, Alexandra Hoffman engaged to Max Sloan, Gordon Gottsegen, Robert Gottsegen, Casey Gottsegen; and great-grandchildren Gus Culligan, Daisy Culligan and Wally Jansen. Services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary at 11:00am on Sunday, April 30, 2017.
