Margaret Ann Spas Obituary
June 13, 1934 - December 12, 2017 Age 83, died unexpectedly on December 12, 2017 in her Newport Beach home where she and her husband, Paul lived for 47 years. Born June 13, 1934 she was the second child of Benjamin and Margaret Kriener of Fort Smith, Arkansas. She attended St. Boniface grade school and St. Scholastica Monastery in Fort Smith before becoming a dental assistant and then a flight attendant for American Airlines. Margaret enjoyed traveling and meeting other people, and was stationed out of New York and Los Angeles. The highlight of her career was flying around the world with three fellow flight attendants in 1962. She retired from American Airlines in 1963. It was while stationed in Los Angeles that she met Paul. They were married on July 4, 1963 at St. Monica Church in Santa Monica and were married for 53 years. Paul was a McDonnell Douglas aerospace engineer and they lived in Santa Monica, Playa del Rey and Newport Beach. Margaret was a loving, giving soul and she touched the lives of so many people. She was very active in the Our Lady Queen of Angels parish - serving initially as a wedding coordinator and school yard mom. Then, for 35 years, she led the volunteers of the Altar Guild Ministry and established and led a Rosary prayer group every weekday. Sadly, she had reluctantly retired from the Altar Guild in September and was just beginning to enjoy sleeping in. She is survived by four loving children: Mary Ramirez of Playa Vista, CA, James Spas of Mesa Verde, CA, Paula Boldyn of Seattle, WA, and Sandra Victorina of Ventura, CA; and five grandchildren: Natalie and Tara Spas and Colette, Andrew and Sebastian Victorino. A funeral mass will be held on January 11, 2018 at 10:30 am in Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Newport Beach followed by interment at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Huntington Beach. www.heritage-dildaymemorialservices.com
