Margaret Jean "Peggy" DeGrasse Obituary
July 18, 1936 - October 9, 2016 It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Peggy passed away a little after midnight Sunday morning, October 9th while being tended to by our loving daughter-in-law, Nurse Practitioner Marsii, at home after a courageous fight with lung cancer. Yes, she was a smoker, arguably her only vice. She was the matriarch of our family - the glue. She was beautiful both physically and spiritually. We kiddingly called her "Peggy the Good." There is truth in jest. She was exceptional in all her endeavors: An accomplished bowler (she's in the record book), mother of five honest, competent and witty children (easier said than done), kept a husband interested enough to keep a marriage together for 62 happy years, great cook, seamstress, did the L.A. Times crossword puzzle every day - in ink! Enough said - you get the picture - exceptional. She is leaving a void which may never be filled - time will tell. But, she will never be forgotten. We were lucky to have her for as long as we did. She is survived by her husband Don, sisters Beverly Bowman and Bernadine Johnson, her five children Billy (Joanie), Donna, Eddie (Yvette), Danny (Jen) and Timmy (Marsii), grandchildren Joey and Jill (Billy and Joanie), Garrett, Grant and Cooper (Eddie and Yvette), Shei and Alyssa (Tim and Marsii), as well as her two unofficially-adopted son and daughter, Tony Anderson and Beth Lowery, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. There will be a celebration of her life on Sunday, October 30th at the Tarzana Community and Cultural Center, 19130 Ventura Blvd. (southeast corner of Vanalden and Ventura) between 1:00 and 5:00. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to St. Jude's and City of Hope. Casual attire suggested.
