Margaret "Peggy" O'Mara Obituary
September 19, 1918 - January 26, 2017 Margaret Ann (Peggy) O'Mara left this world and began her journey to Heaven on January 26, 2017. Her generous smile, warm heart, and kind disposition will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Peggy was born on September 19, 1918, one of four daughters born to Mary (Rogers) and Thomas Waldron. Her grandparents hailed from County Mayo and County Galway, Ireland, but immigrated in 1870 to Shaw, Lancashire, England. The Waldron family eventually settled in Saint Joseph, Missouri. Peggy married Jack O'Mara on May 25, 1941, and was married for 64 happy years until his death. Peggy was an active member of her parishes at St. Mary's (Whittier), Our Mother of Good Counsel (Los Angeles), and Our Lady Queen of Angels (Newport Beach). In 1976, Peggy developed an interest in Chinese brush painting under master painter Ning Yeh, and later became president of the Chinese Brush Painting Association. Peggy is survived by sister Kathryn Thies of Shawnee Mission, KS, daughters Dr. Pat Katsky, Kathy O'Mara, sons Tom O'Mara (Alice), Tim O'Mara (Laura), grandchildren Tracy Katsky Boomer (Linwood), Michelle Caron (Christian), Katie, Jilli, and Teddy O'Mara, and great-grandchildren Alison and Madeline Boomer and Sebastian and Sophia Caron. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Katsky. Services are pending in Saint Joseph, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made in Peggy's name to the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (550 Winslow Way E, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110), or an arts organization of your choice.
