Marie C. JONES Obituary
January 20, 1931 - June 4, 2016 Marie "Sis" Cunningham Jones, 85, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Anthony Cunningham (Hortense Marie McLaughlin), passed away peacefully on Saturday June 4, 2016 with her loving family at her side. Marie was born in Los Angeles on January 20, 1931 and enjoyed her younger years with her parents in Pasadena. She graduated from Westridge High School in Pasadena and subsequently attended Scripps College in Claremont, graduating in 1952. Marie married Louis Winchester Jones, Jr. in 1954, and they had 61 years of a most happy marriage. They have resided in San Marino for the past fifty years. She is survived by her husband Louis and their five children Diane Bates (Charles), Laurie Cox (Larry), Christopher Jones (Stephanie), Frances McCarthy (Sean) and Pamela Nichols (Christopher). Also eleven grandchildren: Cameron Glover (Paul), Cecily Brittain (John), Carolyn Bates, Matthew Cox (Victoria), Kathleen Cox, Louis Jones III, Blake Jones, Corey McCarthy, Charles McCarthy, Allison Nichols and Jacqueline Nichols. Marie was active in the community with many philanthropic organizations, participating in particular with Villa Esperanza Services, Pasadena Guild of Children's Hospital, The Luminaires, The Sisters of Social Service Auxiliary, Christ Child Society, Junior League of Pasadena, Pasadena Garden Club, Huntington Gallery and Gardens, and Art Center 100. She was a 4th generation Californian and belonged to First Century Families. Contributions in Marie's memory may be made to Villa Esperanza Services or to a . A memorial mass will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Church in Pasadena, 151 S. Hill Ave. on June 17th at 2 PM. Cabot & Sons, Paadena Directors.
