Marilyn Louise Hindle Obituary
January 8, 1924 - January 6, 2017 Marilyn, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully just two days before her ninety third birthday. She was born in San Jose, CA to Sigrid Louise Pehrson Carlson and Arthur Oscar Carlson. She grew up in LA and after graduating from Dorsey High, she attended National Park in Maryland. She returned to USC to obtain her bachelor and law degrees and while there she served as President of the Delta Gamma sorority where she made many lifelong friends and began volunteering at the Blind Childrens Center. In 1948, she was admitted to the CA State Bar and began her legal career with the Law Offices of Cantillon and Glover. In 1952, she married Robert J. Hindle. Marilyn became a full time homemaker with the births of their children - Nancy, Tacy and Jim. Their family spent a year in both Casper and Denver before returning to CA in 1963 when they settled in Camarillo - home for Marilyn and Bob for the remainder of Marilyn's life. While raising their children, Marilyn volunteered with, among others, the Assistance League, National Charity League (she served as President of the local chapter), St. Columba's Episcopal Church, the PTA's of her children's schools and Campfire Girls. In the mid 70's, she returned to practicing law part time for a decade until she retired to travel with Bob and assist with his consulting business. She then volunteered with Las Patronas Auxiliary of Assistance League, the school board at St. Columba's, a literacy program at the Juvenile Detention Center and others. She enjoyed her memberships in Las Posas Country Club where she played golf, the Poinsettia Club and bridge and investment clubs as well as a good mystery book. The focus and joy of Marilyn's life was her family that also includes son in law Ken Hindle-Katel (Nancy) and their son Will Hindle-Katel, son in law Peter Rosenberg (Tacy), daughter in law Kim Wallace Hindle (who predeceased Marilyn) (Jim) and their sons Brendan and Parker Hindle and brother in law Bill Hindle and his wife Susan. Marilyn will always hold a special place in the hearts of her family and friends. At her request, there will be no services and her ashes will be scattered at sea. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations in her memory be made to the Blind Childrens Center in LA, Las Patronas Auxiliary of Assistance League of Ventura County or another charity.
