Marliese Behrstock Obituary
February 14, 1932 - June 15, 2015 Marliese Hirsch Behrstock passed away peacefully on June 15, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer. Her active and youthful lifestyle belied her 83 years. Born in Speyer, Germany on February 14, 1932, she and her family escaped the Holocaust and moved to Los Angeles in 1936. After raising three children, she attended USC where she obtained an undergraduate and MSW degrees and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa society. She became a psychotherapist and practiced many years in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills before finally retiring in her 70s Marliese worked with Jewish Family Services and Thalians at Cedars-Siani and did research for a book interviewing victims of the Holocaust. She is survived by her loving husband (Don Behrstock), daughter, Denise Wior Glesby (Bruce) of Santa Barbara, son Warren Wior (Penelope) of Pasadena, daughter Caryn Wior Speizer (Louis) of Flemington, New Jersey; daughter Karna Ruskin (Morris) and son Brandon Berhstock (Soo-jin Lee) of Los Angeles, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many saddened friends. Services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park 6001 W. Centinela Ave., Los Angeles, CA on Thursday, June 18th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a contribution to the Lymphoma Research Foundation of America.
