Martin Rawa Olekszyk Obituary
September 2, 1980 - July 23, 2017 "It was magical, wasn't it? It could've gone terribly wrong, but went wonderfully right. That was my favorite day. I shocked everyone at work with my great attitude today. I said I have a bubble protecting me from negativity now after Canada and Mexico, just got to keep it going . . ." Martin a/k/a M.O., a/k/a Moe Cash, a/k/a Momar, 36, beloved son of Eugene and Anna, raconteur, and ringmaster of the Ratpak, died on July 23, 2017, in his downtown Los Angeles loft. M.O. lived a semi-charmed life. Born in Bellflower and raised in Monterey Park by first-generation Polish immigrants, Martin traveled the globe with the lifelong friends he made growing up in the San Gabriel Valley. Following his graduation from Don Bosco Tech in 1998, he kicked open the doors of PCC, then stormed the halls of NYU, where he graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy in 2002. He went on to have a brilliant career as a fund manager at UCLA and then as a business analyst at USC, where he managed budgets for projects that vastly expanded the depth and breadth of human knowledge. Martin's legendary memory was only surpassed by his master storytelling prowess and his magnanimity. Martin never forgot to wish happy birthday to a loved one or to acknowledge a special anniversary. We are all profoundly lucky to have lived in his world. Celebrate his life with family and friends at Calvary Mortuary on Monday, July 31 at 11 am, with the interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Rosemead, and a reception following thereafter at Quiet Canyon in Montebello. In lieu of flowers, please remember Martin with a donation to the Polish Children's Rainbow Fund (polishchildrensrainbowfund.com), where he volunteered each year with his mom.
