Martin S. Goldfarb M.D. Obituary
January 25, 1927 - December 8, 2016 Martin Goldfarb, Known to his friends as Marty, was born in Norwich, Conn. to Anne Bycel and Benjamin Goldfarb. The family moved to Charleston, West Virginia when Marty was one year old. He was State Table Tennis Champion while at Charleston H. S. where he graduated in 1943 at the young age of 16. He went on to medical school at the Univ. of W. Virginia. He interned at Walter Reed General Hospital, then at the Univ. of Pennsylvania. He spent a year in San Francisco in '55/'56 but found the constant drizzle depressing and moved to Los Angeles. He loved the sunshine where he could participate in his favorite sport, tennis, almost every day of the year. He loved his work as a doctor of cardiology and he loved his family. He married Sandra Shore of Cape Town, South Africa to whom he was introduced while at Wimbledon in London in 1964.They have a daughter, Amanda. Marty also loved traveling visiting many countries in Europe, Asia, South America, and South Africa. he was a brilliant diagnostician, became an expert in the medical field, revered by doctors and lawyers alike. He had a wonderful dry sense of humor, was loyal to a fault, and was loved by those who didn't fear him! He died Thursday evening of complications from Parkinsons at Cedars Sinai Hospital He will be greatly missed by his friends, his wife Sandra, their daughter Amanda, relatives and his caregivers. Services will be held on Sunday Dec. 11th at 3pm at Hillside Memorial Park 6001 W, Centinella Blvd. Culver City, CA followed by a memorial reception at the Beverly Hills Hotel from 6pm-9pm.
