Sister Mary Ann Stark SNJM Obituary
November 17, 1930 - December 20, 2016 Sister Mary Ann Stark, SNJM (Sister Clara Mary) entered into eternal life on December 20, 2016. She was 86 years old and a professed Sister of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary for 65 years. The first years of Sister Mary Ann's educational ministry were at the elementary school level at Marylrose (Oakland), Saint Mark (Venice), Saint Mary (Oakland), Sacred Heart (Oakland), Saint Ignatius (Sacramento) and Saint Gregory (Los Angeles). It was in secondary education where Sister Mary Ann's gifts and talents found a home. She taught at Holy Names High School (Oakland) and Saint Bernard (Playa del Rey) for a total of 7 years and then ministered at Ramona Convent Secondary School (Alhambra) for 35 years. At Ramona she was a teacher, Dean of the Resident Students and Alumnae Director. Sister Mary Ann is remembered for her great love, devotion and fidelity to her family, her graciousness and hospitality in welcoming and remembering generations of Ramona alumnae, the twinkle in her eye and her playfulness, and her love of furry feline friends. She is survived by her sisters, Margaret Stark, Nancy Stark Balogh, her brother, Bill Stark, as well as numerous other relatives. Sister Mary Ann's Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, December 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Chapel, 65 W. Rincon Avenue, Campbell, CA 95008. Her burial will be at 1:30 pm that same day at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward, California. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Names, P.O.
