January 1, 1916 - October 10, 2015 Sister Mary Christine Fleitz, SNJM (Eileen Fleitz) who entered into life on January 1, 1916 in Oakland, CA was born into a forever New Years Day on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Villa, Saratoga. This past June she celebrated 75 years of her religious profession as a Sister of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Sister Mary Christine was a secondary educator for 47 years - Holy Names High School, Oakland (25 years), Ramona Convent Secondary School, Alhambra (18 years), Marin Catholic, Kentfield (1 year) and Saint Andrew, Pasadena (3 years). She ministered as social studies teacher, theology teacher or registrar in these schools. In 1987 she became part of the Holy Names University Office of Institutional Advancement. While Sister Mary Christine was diminutive in stature she was large in heart. She was kind, gentle and had a deep sense of prayer. She loved her family and was dedicated to praying for the alums of Holy Names University. Sister Mary Christine is survived by her nieces and nephew: Sister Carol Fleitz, SNJM, Jan Steinkamp (John), Linda Wetzel (Hank), Donna McRae (Jim), Denise Clark, Maureen Middlebrook, Pam Dempsey (Ron), Peggy Immekus (Dick), Jim Mercer (Christine), Christine Dietrich (Stef) and many other relatives. She will be remembered fondly by the Sisters of the Holy Names and SNJM Associates. Sister Mary Christine's Mass of Resurrection will be on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 2:30 pm at Holy Spirit Chapel, 65 W. Rincon Avenue, Campbell, CA. Her burial will be at 10:15 am on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward, California.
