Mary Coberly Warfield

Obituary Condolences

August 2, 1921 - June 13, 2015 Mary Coberly Warfield, known to her oldest friends as Cobo, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2015 at the age of 93, surrounded by her immediate family. Born in Los Angeles to Clarence and Vera Coberly on August 2, 1921, the youngest of two children, she grew up in Hancock Park and attended Marlborough School. While continuing her education at Pomona College, she met the love of her life, Charles Robert Warfield, and on March 7, 1942 they began a sixty seven and a half year marriage. After Bob returned from his service in WW II, they settled in San Marino where they raised their three children. Mary was a loving daughter, wife, mother and exemplary role model for her children and grandchildren. Her devotion to her family never wavered as she supported and guided them in their pursuit of individual interests. When she was not nurturing her own children, her passion was for her volunteer work at the Los Angeles Children's Hospital and the Pasadena Guild of Children's Hospital and for her animals. Always present in her home was a well loved poodle. The love of the ocean was ever present in Mary's life, as she spent many happy days sailing on the family yacht, Sally, and their Lido 14 at NHYC following their move to Corona del Mar. Interspersed were trips with Bob to Australia/New Zealand, Europe, Japan, multiple destinations around the US, and their favorite Mauna Kea. Mary will always be remembered for her love of her husband, Bob, her family and her country, and she will always be held with love in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Bob Warfield, Jr and Steve Warfield; her daughter, Susan Page; her daughter-in-law, Marilee Warfield; her son-in-law, Toby Page; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob. A family memorial service will be held in Newport Beach on July 16, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, care of PGCH, 4650 Sunset Blvd, Mail Stop 4, Los Angeles, CA 90027.
