Mary Edith Sholtz Obituary
September 23, 1923 - March 9, 2017 On March 9, 2017, Mary Edith Sholtz (Edie) passed from this world peacefully, having lived a full and wonderful life. An Army brat, born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Edie grew up on the base. She was predeceased by her first husband, Clifford James Roffina. She married two more times, most recently to Joe Sholtz, of Laguna Niguel, who predeceased her. Her daughter Michelle and son Mark also predeceased her. She is survived by her two sons, the Rev. Michael J. Roffina (Susan) and Randall R. Roffina (Janet) as well as Randy and Janet's children: Jenica, Ryan (Julie) and their children Ava and Hannah; Brittany (Pete Rosebrook) and their children Collin and Tanner; Matthew; Kyle; Brandon; and Taryn. Edie's extended family includes Ethelyn (Fred Kizu) and their daughter Christine (Chad Miller), and their son, Gage; Sue Tanges; and Marsha Verdin and her children, Eric and Monica. The family is deeply grateful to Mom's caregiver, Maria Villasenor. Edie loved all of her neighbors and friends dearly! She was a devoted gardener, a passionate golfer into her late 70s, a committed member of her beloved church, a master seamstress, and was loved by every dog she ever met. She will be missed and her memory will be cherished by her family and friends. We will celebrate Edie's life as we bear witness to God's saving grace on Friday, March 31 at 10 AM at Laguna Niguel Presbyterian Church. A brief reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gladly received by her church, Laguna Niguel Presbyterian Church, 30071 Ivy Glenn Dr., Laguna Niguel, CA 92677, or other charities of your choice.
