Mary Elizabeth Baddeley Obituary
March 21, 1925 - February 20, 2016 Mary Elizabeth "Bette" Baddeley, 90, passed away peacefully after a long life filled with love, compassion, adventure, and giving to others. She was born in Los Angeles, California, daughter of Martin and Lydia (Westberg) Sandstrom. Shortly after Bette graduated from UCLA with a teaching credential, she met the love of her life, Jack Baddeley, and they were married in 1948. She taught elementary school in Manhattan Beach before becoming a full time homemaker, mom, and philanthropist. She was passionate about traveling with her husband and family, and learning about the history and culture of other countries. To be closer to their children and grandchildren, Bette and Jack moved from their home in Rolling Hills to San Diego, where they enjoyed golf, sailing, and spending time with family and friends. Bette will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and good friend. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, and her daughter, Carol Ann. Bette is survived by her daughter, Linda and son-in-law Gary Plambeck, her grandchildren, Christopher, Jacqueline and husband, Bryan, Robin, and Andrew, and great-granddaughter, Kendall. Graveside services will be held March 4th at 11:00 am at Pacific View Memorial Park, Corona del Mar, and a Celebration of Life will be held in San Diego on March 13th. Donations in memory of Bette can be sent to Zoological Society of San Diego.
